08/03/07 English PBR release date and more

Long time without updates, I know.

A brief recap of the news I've neglected to post: More names were revealed at the Toy Fair and on Pokémon.com. Unfortunately this includes a few contradictions of what had previously been reported (see why I keep telling you not to take these news as the holy truth?). To start with those, Pinpuku is not Happini but Happiny (is it just me, or does that sound a little weird?), Guregguru is Croagunk rather than Croalurk (aww, I was kind of taking a liking to Croalurk), and Pocchama is Piplup and not than the previously reported Pochama.

Korinku being Spinx and Karanakushi being Snelios or Shelios were reported as well, but in fact their names are Shinx and Shellos, respectively. I must say I'm a great deal more fond of Shinx than Spinx, although Snelios had a fun ring to it.

It was previously reported that it was thought Bippa was Beappa, which I did not like so I'm fairly happy it finally turned out to be Bidoof instead.

Other names revealed are Budew for Subomii, Roserade for Rozureido, Cherrim for Cherimu, Driftblim for Fuwaraido and Skorupi for Sukorupi.

Now, for the current news, they mostly come from the Game Developers Conference. There was a demo of the English Diamond and Pearle which revealed some stuff - PokémonElite2000 has a news article describing it. Serebii reports, to summarize, that Kotobuki City has been named Jubilife City and the attacks Coronis had translated as Anticipate and Force Exert have been given the names Me First and Force Palm. The animé seems to have confirmed Masago Town, the second town in D/P, to be called Sandgem Town.

The most major news is that the English release date of Pokémon Battle Revolution has been confirmed to be June 25th 2007! Two months after D/P. Not too bad.

EDIT: Serebii reports that the Game Developers Conference revealed one more thing: Enperuto's English name is Empoleon, which is my personal very favorite fourth-generation English name revealed so far. Dunno, it just strikes a chord. It's clearly a portmanteau of "Emperor" (as in emperor penguin) and "Napoleon", while also hinting at an association with the South Pole. Aside from that it just sounds good. Yay for good names. :3

Hmmm, these are some interesting names. I don't like Croagunk, as I have no idea what it has to do with gunk. Jubilife and Sandgem are pretty good, but at first I thought Sandgem was pronounced "San-gem" O_O

By the way, I can't wait until June 25. Go PBR!

Yey, update!

Jubilife has an odd ring to it, and Sandgem sounds like a desert town... most likely what it WASN'T supposed to be. Ah well. =P

Masago (I believe) does mean "sand" when translated, correct me if I'm wrong >.>

Oh, and the Turtwig family also has Hayashigame as "Grotle" (wow, big to small name.) and Dotaitosu as "Torterra", which is an awesome name ^u^ originating from "terra" and "tortoise".

Moukazaru is now Moferno, which sounds nice and comes from "monkey" and "inferno"...better than Chimchar! XD And it evolves into Infernape. Interesting!

Pottaishi is now Prinplup. Uh, why does it keep "plup"? Ah well. Empoleon just plain rocks.

Bunyatto is now Purugly. Ew. I thought it was smoking at first...*shudder*

Wow. Lots of names. I'm just waiting for more legendaries...

Happiny sounds weird. I was saying it "HA-pihn-ee", but the anime revealed it was "ha-PEE-nee". Don't laugh, but I'm calling mine Happicake.
