The Interactive Type Chart has five modes of operation:
In all five modes, every cell (including summary cells) has a tooltip that tells you somewhat more verbosely what its content means if you hover over it.
Changing this setting will reset any modifications to existing type relations.
When this box is checked, you can edit or delete existing Pokémon types. Unchecking this box will revert any edits to existing types, ensuring that any relations between existing types match up with the games.
Your modifications to the type chart are automatically saved in your browser's local storage as you make them. The "Reset types" button will reset the type chart to the in-game base chart, with all customizations wiped. The "Reset to checkpoint" button will reset the type chart to whatever it was when you last loaded the page or when you last pressed the "Create checkpoint" button.
Select the types of attacks whose coverage should be checked. The chart will show the greatest multiplier achievable against each combo with these attack types.
The chart will show the number of attack types that achieve this multiplier or a more extreme one in the same direction for each combo.
If you filter on a type, essentially the whole chart will be multiplied by the multiplier when the attacking type attacks that type.
Calculate average for these attack types:
When this box is checked, the combo modes will fade cells corresponding to type combinations that no actual existing Pokémon in the relevant generation currently have, and all summary cells will discount the contents of those cells. If the "Symmetrical" box is checked, a combination is treated as existent if either it or its inverse exists; if it is unchecked, Flying/Normal will for instance be treated as nonexistent, which may or may not be what you want.
This chart may not reflect the actual Pokémon games. To disable editing of existing types and revert any edits you've made, uncheck the relevant box on the right.
