Okay. So. The whole database was wiped. There do not appear to be any backups.
So everything that was on the forums is gone (including the styles, hacks, and so on). Everything that was in the guestbook is gone. Now, it will take a bit of time to get the forums back into shape, seeing as I need a fresh install of vBulletin, and it is further delayed by the fact that my vBulletin license expired a few days ago and my dad is away - he'll be back on Saturday, and then we can renew the license and start working on that. Hopefully. I'll have to remake all the styles, though, as well as installing all the hacks again and remaking a couple of my own little hacks created specifically for the forum. So that could take a while. Just please be patient and rest assured that I'm getting an automatic database backup program to prevent this from happening again.
On the other hand, the guestbook, being far simpler and my own script, was relatively simple to bring back - without all the posts, of course, but I just had to recreate the database to get it working again. So the guestbook and guestbook-powered update commenting are back (as well, as, incidentally, the forum and comment system on the Quest for the Legends minipage, which were a bit more complicated to bring back but I did anyway since it's the fic's sixth birthday today, and I really wish I could have spent it posting a Laughing Cupboard thread at the forums and finishing chapter 42 instead of messing around with MySQL).
To look on the bright side of the forum loss: this will provide some nice cleanup, hopefully fix some bugs, and get me to actually get all the hacks working properly in 3.7 (not to mention that if I need to recreate all the other styles, it's a perfect opportunity to remake Hellfire style and adapt Torkoal style to the forums).

I suppose that's good. I wonder whether Frutterbee will redesign the forums as they were, or take away/ add on some new areas and stuff…
It has been stated multiple times that EVERYTHING was wiped from the database. User names and accounts are stored in the database. Therefore your account does not exist any longer and you will have to remake it.
ASBers, I'm currently working on a way for you to be able to recover *most* of your account, Pokémon, etc. Your most recent stuff may not be able to be restored, but I'm trying. You probably won't lose absolutely everything, so don't worry.
We won't have to make another hello thread, will we? Or, hell, remake our accounts? I personally wouldn't mind, but… yeah.
Good thing I didn't do much on the forums. I had like 20 posts, if not less.
Also, looking under here at the "type the Pokemon name blah blah blah" thing, I feel sorry for the people who don't know how to spell the names. Or do you have that somewhat backed-up? Lol

Quite honestly I'm hoping *everyone* doesn't re-sign up, as over half of those accounts were dead weight anyway. That would be one of those "upsides" to the asplosion, really. And the tournament was far enough that we're only waiting for the final battle. I already have the gym leaders settled. As I said before, no way in hell am I restarting it just to get another crappy showing like the first two times. :/

I, unfortunately, don't have anything backed up. I still remember the details of the move, even if I'll have to re-type it, so I guess getting it re-approved won't be entirely horrible if I need to. It was mostly the timing of it; I decide to get active in the ASB again and it all goes kablooey.
I'll probably start The Super Patrol over, since I don't have any of that backed up either. Though that does give the players the opportunity to tweak their character between then and now, and I can put together a system for OCC information that's a little more organized.
So yeah, silver lining and all that. I'm thinking a little more clearly after a good night's sleep, luckily.

Anyway… I can't say I'm happy about this (I don't think many, if any, people can). I don't participate in RPs, the Wi-Fi league or ASB, so none of those being wiped really matters to me (although I'm sympathetic for those who lost stuff on those forums)… the things that do most matter to me that I lost are me 1000+ post count, the Warriors and Ace Attorney fanclubs and my fanfics (which also have on other forums but were still rough to lose). As far as I can tell, the only good things about this would be the fact that we all get to start off with a clean slate and a clean forum, but all the while still being nearly the same as the forums before the data was wiped. It's not all as bad as it seems, I guess.
Well, the guestbook seems to be our replacement…er…forum…
