In all likelihood, they will not remake Crystal. Why? Well, they'll hardly go back to still sprites in HG/SS just so they can then make a Crystal remake that makes them animated again. They can hardly leave out the Battle Tower altogether just so they can reintroduce it in a Crystal remake. We already know they're not taking out the option to play as a girl just so they can then make a Crystal remake that allows you to be one again.
In other words, most of the features Crystal had over Gold and Silver will already be in HG/SS. A Crystal remake on top of that would only add a few measly changes - Eusine, Suicune is found in a different place, Pokémon found in different locations, Ho-oh and Lugia at level 60, maybe the Extremespeed Dratini in the Dragon's Den if they don't reintroduce that in HG/SS anyway. It just wouldn't be different enough to qualify as a new game. Who would bother to buy it? People get the third versions because they introduce new features - all a Crystal remake would introduce would be storyline features that were already in the original Crystal.
